A long day traveling
How we felt ... The plane showed up ... And off we went ...thru passport control
But WE MADE IT
2 hour bus ride to Lublin, to a nice hotel
Where after supper Anna, our coordinator, explained the itinerary for the next few days.
(And we had a brief class in speaking Polish.)
The first thing we did after arriving in Lublin was get a taste for the excellent Polish food. The hotel's restaurant served us chicken with some fruit sauce. I'm sure there is a Polish name for this dish, but there is no way that I would be able to spell or pronounce it :). We then attended Mass at the cathedral on KUL's campus. Fortunately, we stood throughout the Mass, which helped prevent jet lag from kicking in. We finished up the night with a quick lesson in the Polish language. It did not come too easily to me, but luckily some of my classmates picked up the slack.
ReplyDeleteThe Polish language lesson was a lot of fun -- the pronunciations were difficult for me to navigate, but I thought it was perfectly timed because it also functioned as a group bonding opportunity. At that point, we had just landed in Poland and still didn't know each other very well, but I think that language class was the start of our intergroup friendships. I was equally amused by all of our mistakes and impressed by our linguistic talent, and the phrases we learned were quite practical too.
